Florida and Georgia Clash in Atlanta for First Time Since 2020

The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs will face off in Atlanta this Saturday, marking the first time the two programs have met in a ranked versus ranked game since 2020. The contest, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on ABC, replaces the traditional home and away rotation for this rivalry.

Georgia has established dominance in recent history, winning eight of the last 10 meetings against Florida. The Bulldogs have secured five consecutive victories in this series. A key factor in that success has been defensive pressure, as Florida has scored more than 30 points in only two of the last 15 matchups between the teams.

The game is part of a busy Saturday slate for college football. Other high-profile contests include Notre Dame versus Navy in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Michigan playing at Rutgers on the Big Ten Network. The schedule also features Clemson hosting Florida State at 7:00 p.m. on ACC Network.

Locally, UCF fans will look at the Knights' upcoming game against Baylor. Sports analysts on News 6's Home Turf recently debated where UCF's victory over BYU ranks among the program's all-time best wins. The show, hosted by Sports Director Jamie Seh and Ryan Welch, airs on the News 6 Plus app and on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. and 11:35 p.m.

The move to Atlanta for the Florida and Georgia game changes the traditional geography of the rivalry. The matchup is listed on the ABC broadcast card alongside games such as Minnesota at Indiana and FIU at Liberty. The Associated Press contributed to the reporting on this week's college football schedule.

Georgia's recent success against Florida has been consistent. The Bulldogs have kept the Gators' offense in check, limiting them to fewer than 30 points in 13 of the last 15 encounters. Florida has only broken the 30-point barrier twice in that span, highlighting the defensive challenge the Gators face in Atlanta this week.
