Injured Eagles host Commanders
Both NFC East rivals are fighting injury plagues as they meet for the second time this season on Sunday Night Football.

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Washington Commanders in a Sunday Night Football matchup on November 1.
Both teams enter the contest with poor records and extensive injury lists. The Eagles hold a 2-4 record, while the Commanders are 1-4-1. The game will be played at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, with a kickoff time of 8:20 p.m. ET.
Philadelphia lost the first meeting of the season, 24-22, in Week 1. Since then, the Eagles have lost star quarterback Jalen Hurts for the remainder of the season due to blood clots. Head coach Nick Sirianna will rely on Tanner McKee to lead an offense that currently ranks 29th in points per game and 32nd in yards per play. Running back Saquon Barkley will play through hamstring and back issues. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are out with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell is also sidelined with a hamstring and quad injury.
Washington is in a similar state. Coach Dan Quinn hopes a win will stabilize the team after a bye week. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has performed well since returning from an elbow dislocation. However, he lacks his top target, Terry McLaurin, who suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon. Daniels has not won a start as a starter since Week 5 of the 2025 season. Since that win, he has gone 0-7-1 in starts. In his last two games, Daniels threw for 199 yards and ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns against the Giants. He followed that with his second career 300-yard passing game against the 49ers. Without McLaurin, Daniels will likely target Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo, and Antonio Williams.
The defensive matchup presents a challenge for both sides. The Commanders allow 31st most points per game, but they are missing interior defenders Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw. Payne suffered an injury on Friday. The Eagles defense struggled against the Cowboys in Week 7 but performed well against Washington in Week 1. Washington has lost six straight primetime games, the second-longest active losing streak behind the Indianapolis Colts.
DraftKings lists the Commanders as 6-point favorites. The Eagles are expected to lean on a defensive unit that possesses more talent than its recent play suggests. The Commanders will look to use their blitz-heavy defense to exploit an undermanned Philadelphia offense.
The Eagles won the first meeting of the season, 24-22, in Week 1. The two teams have not met since that game.
