The Israeli Defense Forces dismantled an explosive drone storage facility in southern Lebanon on Sunday. The operation took place in the El-Khiam area, where the 769th Brigade worked to remove Hezbollah infrastructure from the security zone.
IDF troops searched a civilian home and found posters of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah inside a child's bedroom. The unit also recovered guns, ammunition magazines, and other terrorist equipment from the same structure. Video footage released by the military shows the posters plastered on the walls.
The brigade located additional weapons in other parts of the security zone. These items included rockets, Kalashnikov rifles, and explosive drones. The military detailed the specific types of hardware recovered during the sweep.
This military action coincides with a domestic legal development in Beirut. The Lebanese Military Court charged 13 Hezbollah members over the weekend for an explosives smuggling operation. Two of the charged men were arrested while transporting the materials. They are the only two currently held in Lebanese custody.
Lebanese authorities discovered the explosives at a checkpoint in the Bekaa Valley in October. Officials suspected the materials might have been destined for a political assassination. Hezbollah stated the explosives were intended for use against Israel. Lebanese commentators noted the materials matched those used in the truck bombing that killed former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
