The Tampa Bay Rays face the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
Tampa Bay won Tuesday's game 4, 3-2, in 12 innings to cut Milwaukee's series lead to 3-1. A victory on Wednesday would extend the championship race to a sixth game. Milwaukee, which finished the regular season with a 103-59 record, needs one more win to claim its first World Series title.
Jacob Misiorowski is expected to start for the Brewers. He posted a 16-5 record and a 1.80 earned run average this season. The Rays are expected to counter with Drew Rasmussen, who went 16-5 with a 2.67 ERA. Tampa Bay has not officially confirmed its starting pitcher, though the team finished the regular season 98-64.
Bookmakers favor the Brewers. The money line lists Milwaukee at -154 and Tampa Bay at +128. The total run line is set at 6.5.
SportsLine's computer model simulates each game 10,000 times and projects 8.4 combined runs. The model recommends the over at -119, noting the total exceeded 6.5 in 69% of its simulations. The Over has hit in four of the last six meetings between these teams.
The model also projects individual performance. It expects Brewers hitters Jackson Chourio and Jake Bauers to record at least 1.5 total bases. For the Rays, it projects Yandy Diaz, Junior Caminero, and Jonathan Aranda will each reach at least 1.4 total bases. The model's top-rated MLB money-line picks started the World Series with a 32-25 record, returning more than $1,000 to a $100 bettor.
