Allison Albro, a 21-year-old resident of Daytona Beach, faces criminal charges after posting on social media that she intended to shoot President Donald Trump at a campaign rally. Albro described the post as a joke and stated she did not possess a Glock pistol or any other firearm. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office confirmed that she is currently held in jail, where she is charged with making written threats of assassination and misusing a communication device.

The incident began on Thursday night when Albro published a photo of herself accompanied by a message about attending the president's event to fire her Glock. Agents from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the United States Secret Service visited her home that same evening. In a Facebook post, the Sheriff's Office noted that Albro told investigators the publication was a prank. She also asserted that she had no access to a Glock and would never harm anyone.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood used the office's social media channel to address the incident. He advised anyone considering posting a similar joke to think twice before doing so. The charges reflect the specific nature of her written threats and her use of a digital platform to communicate them.

The timing of the arrest coincides with the president's scheduled appearance in Daytona Beach on the afternoon of October 30, 2026. Trump is expected to hold a rally supporting Byron Donalds, Ashley Moody, and Randy Fine. These three candidates are the nominees for governor, the U.S. Senate seat, and the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida, respectively. The event serves as a key campaign stop for the Republican ticket in the state.
